Halfway through its environmental roadmap, SOMFY has published its 2025 results, which mark a clear acceleration in the reduction of its carbon footprint. With a 42% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 and a 38% reduction in Scope 3 compared to 2019, the Group reaffirms its ambition to reduce its emissions by 50%* by 2030, validated by SBTi**.
* -50% in absolute value for Scope 1&2, and 50% in intensity for Scope 3
** Science Based Targets Initiatives
A significant reduction in products’ electricity consumption
86% of SOMFY’s carbon footprint stems from its products, primarily from their electricity consumption. It is therefore on this lever that the Group is focusing its efforts. In 2025, annual electricity consumption per motor stands at 5.8 kWh, representing a 24% reduction in one year (driven by eco-designed access motors) and a 47% reduction since 2019.

These efforts to reducze the environmental impact of products form part of the Group’s eco-design approach, formalised through Product Environmental Passports (PEP Ecopassport) schemes certified by an independent third party. Eco-designed products now account for 83% of sales (across all brands), compared with 74% in 2024. Since 2022, every new development project has been assigned a carbon target from the design stage, which serves as a decision-making criterion for its launch.
Products that also help avoid emissions
Each motor brought to market helps avoid, on average, 1.7 times* its own carbon footprint among end-users. Across the countries studied—France, Italy, Poland, Germany, Belgium and Spain—SOMFY solutions helped avoid over 300,000 tonnes* of CO₂, thanks to the motorisation and automation of sun protection systems.
* Avoided emissions are the difference between emissions reduced through building automation and emissions generated by the products. Figures calculated based on 2019 data, currently being updated.

“Decarbonisation is a deep-seated commitment for SOMFY, and its effects extend far beyond our corporate boundaries. The entire value chain is mobilised around this objective: our customers prioritise low-carbon products, our employees work to eco-design SOMFY solutions, and we select suppliers offering new components that are more resource-efficient than their predecessors. It is this partnership-based chain that enables us to amplify everyone’s actions. In this spirit, we supported 40 of our industrial clients in 2025 in measuring the carbon footprint of their purchases, thereby making a concrete contribution to the decarbonisation of the entire sector. “This is the very essence of our commitment: to be useful and responsible, a driving force in our value chain for the benefit of those who use our solutions,” explains Philippe Geoffroy, Director of Environmental Performance at the SOMFY Group.
Production sites are also decarbonising
By 2025, 84% of the electricity used at industrial sites will come from renewable sources, and all French sites will have a green electricity contract. Photovoltaic installations have been extended beyond Poland to sites in Tunisia and Italy, in countries where energy is the most carbon-intensive.
