Supporting skiing and athletes

With Somfy’s roots in the French Alps, skiing and its related values of effort and performance are part of the Group’s DNA. This passion, shared by Somfy’s employees, is demonstrated through the Group’s support of the French Ski Federation, as well as its individual sponsorship of talented biathletes and skiers.

Sponsoring Nordic skiing and its talents

A partner of French Ski Federation (FFS), the Somfy brand has sponsored the French biathlon team since 2005, and Nordic skiing (biathlon, cross-country, jumping, Nordic combined) since 2014.  In addition to the visibility this gives the brand, the Group is also present at most of the major competitions, supporting athletes.

These strong ties to the French ski community have led the Group to sponsor individual athletes, too. In 2017, Somfy sponsored three experienced biathlon champions: Martin Fourcade, Marie Dorin-Habert and Simon Fourcade.

With help from the FFS in choosing individuals for their sporting potential and personality, Somfy sponsors four talented young skiers from Savoie, birthplace of the Group, through the Somfy Ski Talents Program: Enora Latuillière (biathlon events), Jonas Devouassoux (ski cross), Clément Parisse (Nordic skiing), Thomas Clarion (para biathlon).

Supporting athletes during and after their careers

Young athletes who join Somfy Ski Talents benefit from personalized support. If they wish, they can carry out an internship with Somfy in the HR, marketing and finance departments, among others, to learn about the profession and prepare for their post-sporting career.
