“Better living on the planet”: the SOMFY foundation continues its commitment and fully embraces its environmental focus

The SOMFY FOUNDATION’s mission is to build a better world for future generations. A world where each of us can have access to healthy and sustainable living spaces that respect people and the environment.

The Foundation is now widening its scope by also integrating environmental issues and will continue its initiatives alongside associations to promote the following three pillars:

• “Planet”: By participating in general interest projects that benefit the environment;
• “Employees”: The Foundation continues to work with Somfy Group employees for the common good and in the general interest. In France, all employees are given three days to participate in projects identified by the Foundation. In 2025, the goal is to reach 500 days of skills-based sponsorship.
• “Sustainable Growth”: The aim is to promote professional integration and to continue the fight against social inequalities in employment and housing.

The first action that makes the new environmental focus a reality is the forest reforestation in Magland, France. The SOMFY FOUNDATION will contribute by financing the planting and maintenance of 10 hectares of forest for the next five years. This project also involves Group employees who will spend two days planting trees in a 1.7 hectare-space.

“The Foundation's new orientations will become a reality right away: We are going to make a concrete commitment by supporting initiatives in favor of the environment, professional integration, and the fight against social inequalities in employment,” said Jean Guillaume Despature, Chairman of the SOMFY FOUNDATION. Thanks to the help of SOMFY employees, we will continue our efforts initiated more than ten years ago—whether they be, for example, our actions alongside the association ‘Les Petites Pierres’ or organizing solidarity projects as part of our skills-based sponsorship.

In 2021, the SOMFY FOUNDATION supported six projects in France, Australia, Mexico, Romania, Italy, and Spain. It also provided emergency support to Haiti, the Ivory Coast, and India, and financial aid to the NGO Planète Urgence. The Foundation also contributed to two studies on skills-based sponsorship in partnership with INJEP and ProBono Lab. Regarding social and professional inclusion, the SOMFY FOUNDATION and the association ‘Les Foyers Matter’ co-organized a conference on the subject of life after incarceration, introduced by the screening of the French documentary Après les murs.
