Exclusive negotiation in view of acquiring a stake of CIAT (Compagnie Industrielle d’Applications Thermiques)

Somfy Participations has entered exclusive negotiations to take a stake in the capital of CIAT, company held by the Falconnier family.
CIAT group was founded 1934 in Culoz, Ain (France), where is located its head office. Today, it is one of very first European manufacturers of equipments for air conditioning, thermal exchanges, air treatment and heating by renewable energies.
Its development meets the needs for better air quality, ambient comfort and the optimization of the energy consumption, inside buildings.
The group operates 9 industrial sites, allocated between France, Spain, Italy, India and China. It is present through its distribution network in more than 70 countries, with positions particularly strong in France, in Spain and in Belgium, and increasing in the rest of Europe and Asia.
Group’s headcount stands at over 2 200 employees. 2007 sales were 316 M€, a 17 % increase vs 2006. CIAT’s main objectives in the upcoming years are the acceleration of international development, enrichment of the product range in respect of new environmental and energy saving constraints, and the improvement of its industrial and operational performances.
The project of investing in CIAT is compliant with an active and value creating investment policy at Somfy Participations, targeted in companies sharing SOMFY’s entrepreneurship values, and with a straightforward business model.
