Shutters and solar protection

SOMFY's core business remains the motorization of terrace awnings and roller shutters. Our automatic systems are present in the residential housing market (houses and apartment buildings) and also in the commercial building market (office buildings, hospitals, schools, etc.).

Since 2015, Somfy has been marketing a new generation of tubular motors for roller shutters: the RS100 Smart & Smooth range. Natively connected to the Internet, this motor is a concentrate of unprecedented user benefits including unrivaled acoustics and smooth operation, with even lower power consumption than previous generations.

For the home, Somfy's offer also includes sensors—solar, wind, temperature, humidity, and more—as well as control systems. In 2016, Somfy launched Nina, the building sector's first motion-controlled remote control.

Today, SOMFY is taking it a step further by launching the SOMFY AIR program and the connected window.

Faced with global warming, buildings must become more sustainable, better insulated, and more energy-efficient. This is why SOMFY teams have developed solutions around the window, which will be an essential part of tomorrow's housing by contributing to energy efficiency and thermal balance while improving indoor air quality.

In March 2021, Somfy launches Oximo Solar io, This innovative system works with natural daylight under all weather conditions, with or without sunlight. Highly efficient, it can run autonomously for at least 45 days in the dark.

On the commercial market, Somfy solutions enable dynamic solar protection management

For architects, design offices, and property investors, Somfy designs solutions that manage heat and light from the sun on building facades. Thanks to automation, solar protection systems—awnings, adjustable shading devices, and more—are always in an optimal position to ensure occupant comfort and optimize building energy performance.

This solution can reduce a building's energy consumption by up to 40% if it is planned at the design stage and combined with automatic lighting, heating, and air conditioning.
